sometimes you just know

I have some projects to show you but I just haven't worked up the pictures yet. Here's why.

When I got back from vacation I downloaded all my photos and sorted them. Then I gave myself some play time and worked up the macro shots I did (I've done macro for so long it takes me no time at all and it is fun - kinda like dancing).

Fuschia are, in my opinion, hard to make look awesome in photos. Somehow, I can never sort them out from how I see them without a camera in front of my face to how I seen them when I  look in the lens. This one works, I think.

I squished him for my sister after I photographed him eating her gerbera daisy. :)

I think that for a spider, he has a pleasant expression.

Miracle and one of her kittens. There is a really cool story behind her name that I won't share right now because I am trying to keep this short.

Then I started working on the photo shoot of my nieces.

My sis and her girls. E (the baby) is in a no-one-but-Mom can hold me stage and can get unhappy quite quickly if she is put down.

Tell me she doesn't have the yummiest legs on the planet!!

G's favorite kitten because it looks the most like Miracle.

Smooch...isn't she coy and adorable?

I love low-key photos of babies...

I've still got lots of photos to work up of G and E. Plus I have the photos from my sister's in-laws to work on but...I also have to put together photos for a seminar I am teaching on Friday. Here are some vacation shots I am using to show some basic photo concepts.

But last night I had to put aside cute children and seminar worthy shots for VBS. These are a few shots where I knew before I shot that unless I flubbed they would be cool.

One of the most photogenic little boys I know. I've done preschool Christmas nativity shots of him two years running and he is sooooooooo cute. I just love his careless attitude in this photo. He has become rebellious and doesn't like to participate and he does it with a bit of attitude.

She is the daughter of a friend. Her sister's share the same old-fashioned cameo faces. Gorgeous. I saw her little head peeking from behind those two chairs.

But...the photo below is the one that I almost held my breath when shooting it (and some little boy kept sticking his head in front of the camera while I was shooting). Aaaah. :)

blue eyes and me

I don't know the last time, I've had a picture of myself I like. Being at least seventy-five pounds over weight and struggling with thinning hair makes me insecure about my appearance. Today, however, I got a wonderful photo of me and K from a former teacher. She took it two weeks ago when they had firemen visit the school and the Pre-K and Kindergarten classes were together.

What really struck me is how blue my eyes are. When I was a child, I remember people commenting on my beautiful blue eyes and my wonderfully thick hair. In fact, I found out years after our marriage that one of the physical attributes that my husband first described to his Mom was my beautiful blue eyes.

With a pudgy face my eyes don't appear so big and lovely as they once were and what struck me is that my girls really do have my eyes.

Intellectually I knew it but now I see it. L gave me a gift when she sent me a photo - a bigger gift than she might have realized.

Speaking of overweight. I've managed to lose eleven pounds since the beginning of May and am considering applying to be a contestant at Win, Lose, or Blog after my summer insanity (the month of June) passes. Most of the weight loss would be due to running. I've successfully cut down consumption but have issues with binging every ten days or so.

Photo Blog

I have a photo blog now, for my photography business. I just finished posting about a shoot with an adorable little girl washing her baby doll.

flowers, fairies, and plbt

So I embroidered the fairy on this skirt for K and she had to wear it today. Guess what, the skirt is too big and the tie is fake (no I didn't make the skirt, I bought it). No time to take it in so off she goes to school - hope it doesn't fall off.

The butterfly lace is to cover some weak places in the fabric. I love how the fairy turned out but the skirt - ugh!!

But K looks cute.

This morning it was overcast and we had early morning showers. I had been working on the photos from a shoot since 5:30 so some relaxation was in order so what else would I do but take pictures of my flowers.

The poppies have started blooming.

Twins

Doesn't the knot in the fence look like a wolf's eye gazing at you?

Some of the fancier iris and the Dutch iris are still blooming.

Columbine - first time I've had it in my yard.

The wild thing about columbine is that you can get two different colored flowers on the same plant!!

I love black and white!!

Pink yarrow - if you don't like invasive, don't plant it.

If you like impossible to kill, pink, and carefree - plant it.

I am so plbt - you would think I had a memory disorder rather than anger issues and depression struggles. I can't believe how often I forget my Zoloft. If you've had Zoloft you know the half-life is short so crashes are hard and fast.

Plbt.

I know I had something else to share but I guess I will do it later today when I post my last tin can project (I was going to be done with projects for the Iron Crafter but I decided I really wanted to do these).

sigh - off to get the girls from school...i hope they are happier than yesterday.
