raw materials

I mentioned earlier this week that I would be creating costumes for our nativity photo shoots at church. Two trips to GW and a trip to Dollar Tree have provided me some raw material. I've combined my shopping with material from my stash - I have some cute costumes put together. Here is a look at some of the raw material.

The blanket that you see above (pure wool with the tag still on from Faribo Woolen Mills-for only five dollars) is one of at least three I bought and have turned into costumes.

I bet you can't guess (if you can't tell me voice is dripping with sarcasm, I am sorry) what the three curtains I bought at GW will be used for.

I bought several different yardages at GW including this faux fur.

I've discovered that women's skirts are very easy to transform into robes. Two seams minimum or four seams maximum depending on the fabric - are all that are required to make cute robes.

The skirt below is 100% pure silk. It was from Talbots and still had the tags. It was $105 dollars originally. I paid two.

Dollar Tree is also an invaluable resource. I bought tinsel and scarves among other things.

I raided my stash of plastic canvas and did a bunch of cutting today.

I have no idea what these were originally intended to be, but aren't the stripes wonderful?

I also raided my girl's dress-up clothes and even my own closet. Some of the props will come from our home decor as well.

Hopefully, early in the week next week, you will see photos with detailed explanations of the costumes.
