Photo Hunter: Hobby

My hobby is life. I started thinking of my hobbies and decided to focus would be impossible. There is too much of life to interest me. So I decided to photograph my globe collection (I have a hard time refusing an old globe at the thrift store) to represent life. There is so much wonderful creation out there to know and love. Isn't there?

We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of the dream. Wandering by lone sea breakers, and sitting by desolate streams. World losers and world forsakers, for whom the pale moon gleams. Yet we are movers and the shakers of the world forever it seems. Arthur O'Shaunessey

  1. I never knew anyone before that collected globes. I love to look at them but if I started collecting them my husband would kill me- there's no more room in the living room- it's too full of my lighthouse collection. My photo isn't up yet- I'm having a tough time coming up with ideas this week.

  2. Nice looking collection, I would have to side with cindy - before you I never knew of some one who collected globes either. Which one is your favorite?

Oh this is just so perfect!! I struggled with this particular photo hunt...for the mere fact that...as you said...there is so much that interests me...I belie you once again were able to get to the core of what it's all about. Nice job!!!

  8. What a haunting quote. It will be with me always. A globe collection: it must be fascinating to see the changes of the borders over the decades.

Beautiful. I have always been tempted by globes but never had the space to store them--they are so awkward to place, especially when one has family memebers who CAN NOT LEAVE THINGS ALONE.

Hobbies are the things that are most likely to turn into a job--in fact hubby learned everything he does for work through his hobbies.

I needed the style thing just as much, I often forget and then get frustrated with myself.

  10. So beautiful!

I have three globes. I like the early ones best. I consider 'early' to contain East Pakistan. It's how I date them.

The perspective of globes is just SO much better than a flat map. I never realized until I became fascinated with globes just how distorted maps can be.

  11. I love globes too, and guess how many I have? NONE! :D
These are beautiful photos, as usual. There is indeed so much in creation worthy of celebrating!
    Rejoice!

  12. Oh, we like globes a lot at our house, but I never thought to collect them before. Now we do have a very small collection of maps. We love looking at those! :o) Nice pics.

  13. Yes. :-) As you commented in my blog... We do get lots of peeks into your world. And a very nice thing that is, too!

And guess what?!? I don't collect anything! Well, other than the books of 2 authors. I guess I just don't like to dust, so I don't have collections of things. 'Cause I'd have to dust them. ,-)
