blessed

Our church is struggling right now. The world deceives, if it tells you that churches do not struggle. Churches are made of people, sinful people, unfortunately, faith doesn't prevent sinful behavior. However, God redeems us from sin. In fact, God redeems not only us but our actions and mistakes as well. The gentleman in the foreground is an amazing pastor who is serving as a 'healing' interim pastor while our board decides how to move forward. He is a joy to listen to and our congregation is blessed.

  1. I went through that in a former church. I happened to be on the church council at the trying time. I've always taken pride in my ability to see both sides of an issue and to try to find common ground. I was unprepared, and I don't think you can prepare yourself, for the outright anger from both sides of an issue because I was trying to be in the middle and work with both camps. I had people refuse to shake my hand or say "Good morning" to me. I wound up changing churches because it was too stressful.

Be sure that your board is supported with prayer and positive reinforcement. Even if you disagree with whatever decision they come to, they are struggling with doing the right thing and are still your fellow worshipers in the body of Christ. Letting them know that they are cared about will make the burden easier to bear.

I wish someone had come up to me during my time of struggle and said, "Regardless of how this is decided, I am praying for you." It would have made the 2 a.m. meeting and the open hostility of some members much more bearable.

Prayers sent your way for healing.

  3. Hold on. Light will come and help you all. Sometimes it takes faith to walk into the darkness, and then the light comes to show you the way. Love and prayers your way.

  7. Praying for your church Melissa. Been there before and it's not a good place. But...my husband and I always have said, We want to be part of the solution and not the problem. God Bless! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
