American Girl Store

Grammy came to us with 800 printed photos from our trip to California this summer. Can you imagine!! I love digital - I take many photos but I seldom print them!!

We had lunch at the American Girl Bistro. I must confess, the food at the bistro is excellent (but over-priced).

Our seat over-looked the theme park at the mall. C spent a lot of time during lunch watching the people in the park.

Service is slow at the bistro. We had a lot of time, just sitting and so I took lots of pictures of my girls.

Check out Grammy's flags. The food came with toothpick flags. The girls put them to use.

After lunch, Grammy spent her allowance and then some on American Girl Merchandise for the girls. Do you see Tim running a napkin through the wee ringer washer so that Kira can see how it works? I love this shot!! It makes me smile to see him doing laundry.

It was a stressful visit to the American Girl Store, but at least, I have a good way to mitigate stress; I take pictures to distract myself and to entertain you.

Grammy leaves on Wednesday.

  1. Love that doll wringer washer. When Joe does laundry it is a big ole mess but he does do it. Snapping photos does sort of lift you out of the experience doesn't it?

  2. My daughters would go crazy in that store. I'm so glad you had a nice way to help you get through a stressful time, but what lovely memories for your girls. :) Hooray for itineraries.

  4. Love the photos, both the ideal portraits and the real moments. I never knew that the American Girl store had a restaurant (but, then, I have no daughters); that does sound fun but overpriced. :)

  5. I remember helping my grandmother do her wash with a wringer washer. I remember a few of the "do's" and "don'ts". She would have to check everything for buttons because a good wringer would crush buttons and she hated replacing them. She did jeans one leg at a time because the whole item was too thick to put through at once.
I agree with you that the place is stressful. I go with a friend who shops for her nieces. I need chocolate after we visit. Fortunately, the one in Chicago is across the park from the Ghirardelli store.

  6. I'm just hoping to live long enough to find American Girl stuff in thrift stores. A girl can dream...

  9. You take the best face-pictures, Melissa. The flags in Grammy's hair made me smile. And Tim doing the laundry too. :)

  10. I have been away and offline for several days. Your post is so timely, my sister who lives in the States just gave me an AG catalog to the give my girls. I have always been curious about the AG cafes. I would love to take my girls to one next time we visit the States. Beautiful photos.
