crayon art

I found this project at Lindsey Daniella Did It via Pinterest.

Earlier this week, I was sent an invitation to a prayer meeting for Mrs C.'s daughter. Mrs C. was the girls' teacher for two years and is a wonderful teacher and friend. Her daughter K suffers from a severe eating disorder and has been admitted into a treatment facility again.

I thought the girls might want to make a little gift for me to take with me to give to her.

My girls have a carry-on size suitcase full of crayons so I raided the box for the crayons. I usually keep several sprays of Dollar Tree silk flowers and remnants around and I always collect buttons. So this was an easy craft to complete.

K made a little card with the words "Rain Will Make the Flowers Grow," which is from the song Small Rain from the musical Les Miserables.

C wrote a card with the text from 2 Samuel 23:4

He is like the light of morning at sunrise
on a cloudless morning,
like the brightness after rain
that brings grass from the earth.’

Mrs C's daughter K has been fighting this disease for three years. Mrs C is emotionally exhausted but the person who touched me the most was her husband. It is heart-breaking to see a man so completely broken and devastated for the life of his child.

We prayed for an hour that God would heal this precious little soul.

  1. I'll say a prayer for Mrs. C's K--there is no harder thing in life than to watch your child suffer.

    Your girls made gorgeous cards!

  2. Oh this is beautiful. I have known so many people who -or their loved ones - have been affected by the scourge of an eating disorder. This is such a wonderful post, it has made me reflect.

  3. Your post brought tears to my eyes, because your daughters' words of encouragement are so incredibly heart-felt and sweet. Praying for your friend and her daughter. I can only imagine how difficult life has been for them. May God wrap them all in love.

PS...LOVE this craft! Wouldn't these be great Mother's Day gifts for children to make? ☺

  8. I'm so sorry for your friends daughter. I just don't think I will ever understand the evil irony of eating disorders.

I think your daughter's artwork will brighten her day for sure. I love those!
