flowers (june blossoms in my yard) and one bird (a craft!!)

Like so many, we are having an unusually cold, wet summer. I honestly don't mind, the rain, the clouds, or the cold that much. However, I do mind the headaches that the low pressure systems give me. Yesterday, I had a headache so I watched television and finished this embroidered piece that I started at Christmas.

I am pretty happy with it, but I am not sure what to do with it now. I thought about using it to cover a pillow to throw on the couch but my husband is underwhelmed by it. What would you do with it? (It is roughly 8 inches square.)

I will be sharing at:

  1. Maybe you can make that piece into a pocket and sew it onto a tote bag. Very nice work! :)

  2. I think your suggestion is a great one. Your bird would look super dressing up a cushion!

  3. Use it on one of your fabulous boxes? Frame it?
I think it is beautiful--has a Penn Dutch feel to me.

  4. Hand Towel? I wish we had wet and cold? Can we trade? Have a terrific weekend!

  5. I haven't been warm for 9 months. I would frame that piece, it's beautiful! And I envy you your irises - mine haven't bloomed yet!

  6. The embroidery is gorgeous! I also love you flower photos, the dianthus is my favorite.

  7. Oh! The irises remind me of my grandfather's garden. He had such pretty irises that he babied from year to year. ☺

Hmmm...What about making a skirt in one of the thread colors and using your gorgeous embroidery as pocket? It's beautiful and you should enjoy it. Happy Friday!

  8. Your embroidery is beautiful. You are really skilled. I would love to see the piece incorporated into a cushion (but my husband is also underwhelmed by cushions generally so I hear you), why not incorporate it into a shopping tote / purse (Sort of a pocket tail) on linen or canvas bag.

PS We have had quite a bit of rain this week and I experience the same headache pain as well.

  10. I love the photos.

Your stitching is so pretty...I like the pocket idea, maybe on a denim jacket, or put it on a cardboard backing and hang it with twine from a knob, make a book cover with it, a Christmas decoration (to hang on the wall maybe), framed, wrap it around a smooth glass jar and use it as a vase, the possibilities are endless! 11. Sheesh! Has it been that long since I've been in the blogging world? Could you send some of that rain my way? LOL! Love the embroidery! Like a previous commenter said, love the idea for a tote!
