Rope Snowman (and an explanation)

My MIL collects many things and her collections are quite large (she has a huge house). Among her collections are snowmen. She likes button nose snowmen not carrot nose snowmen but if you look most snowmen are carrot nose. At Christmas I checked her snowmen, I don't think more than a handful had non-carrot noses.

I've decided to remedy the problem for her birthday (in September) so that this coming Christmas, she can decorate with button nose snowmen.

I have discovered that this self-imposed challenge is very invigorating. It makes me stretch my imagination and look at materials in a new way. I hope you stick with me through the journey.

Today I am revealing clothes line snowmen, which will make sixteen.

They took exactly a hundred feet of clothes line (I cut off about two inches when I finished the baby). The Teen-aged Son is a milk bottle, Pa is a coffee creamer bottle, Baby is a medicine bottle, and Ma is a giant plastic Easter Egg and a ball.

Ma seemed the perfect shape for an apron and so she is the inspiration for this whole group of 'country bumpkin' snowmen.

Getting a positive remark out of my husband for anything I do (including making great meals and dressing nice) is rare. He thought the baby was cute (and I thought the baby was dumb looking). :)

I will be sharing this at:

I like them. You could do a family of rope snowmen for me. They would go quite nicely on the old buffet that we kept from your Dad's family for the down stairs entertainment center. They are really adorable. nlm

  6. your girls are beautiful. Love this idea of Snow family. The mom looks very chic with her apron. This looks like a lot of fun and creativity. You know, I feel the same way when I create Artist Trading Cards, I find inspiration and creativity I didn't know I had!
