Storybook Trays

I found these trays in my stash. I get frustrated by the piles of papers from the girls and so I thought these trays might suit. I figured they could each have a tray to corral their stuff.

I don't have a before shot of the big tray but here is a before shot of the small tray.

I spray painted the trays with Krylon Fusion. Hammed copper for the small tray and hammered aluminum for the larger tray.

I used the pages from a storybook of fables and fairy tales for children to line the bottom of the trays. I Mod Podged them down and added several generous coats of Mod Podge on top. Then (since I know my girls will do something crazy with the trays) I sealed the trays with Liquitex Pour On Finish.

  6. Cute idea! I did something similar to coral all the immense amounts of mail my hubby brings home each week. This way it doesn't end up all over the house, it is just on the tray next to the front door! It really does work well! I love the story book pages. Seems like there is always a book that is falling apart, I save the pages, "just in case". Thanks for the idea!

  7. How cute! I love trays. Much better than the cookie sheets I use to keep things organized. :)

  13. This is such a great idea. I have a tray that needs a bit of TLC but I just don't know if I am crafty enough to do this kind of thing...I should just try and see how I go!

Best wishes and thanks for the idea and inspiration.
    Natasha.

  14. Oh, the piles of papers that the kids generate!!! That coupled with the mail and I feel like my full-time job is clearing the counter. I could use a couple trays!! These are darling. And I really love those decorator crabs that you made up at the top of your page. I might have to do those today!!
