make your own hatstands

You have to understand I really wear hats. I have more hats than I have shoes (I have two pairs of sandals, one pair of Sunday shoes, two pairs of house slippers/clogs, and two pairs of boot - one of which needs to go to the repair shop). I have more hats than I have purses. I have four purses, three of which I purchased from my Mom's Etsy shop. I have more hats than I have jeans. I have two pairs of jeans so that I can always have a clean pair (and they are identical).

I might have as many skirts as I have hats. I have a hanger on the back of my bedroom door with eight hooks and it has double hats on some hooks. I have hats sitting in the closet. I usually have several hats hanging over the knob of the banister rail in the entry.

So when I saw this idea in one of my Mary Jane's Farm I decided to give it a shot.

Here are the hatstands without hats.

They are easy to make. I have two more that I am in the process of making one is going to use an I-don't-know-what-it-is and one is going to use a potato masher. When I post those pictures, I will hopefully have a tutorial written.

These are them on the trunk at the foot of my bed with hats on them. This is my effort at staging - pathetic...isn't it!! :)

Here they are on the trunk like real life. With a throw on the trunk to prevent from my rambunctious girls scratching it up and some books that hubs is using for reference right now.

I am thrilled to bits with how these turned out!!

  1. What a great idea! My problem at the moment is the amount of scarves I have accumulated since moving to the UK. During the Winter, I would wear two just to keep warm! I need an artistic scarf stand...

  2. Oh perfect. I wear hats all the time (through mostly one of two) and the girls both follow my example and wear hats so I think this needs to be a priority. up untiul now we have just hung them on the many hooks around the house but I hate how that causes them to become misshapen.

  3. What a fun idea! I'm not sure I own more than about 2 hats, and that includes the one I wear when skiing. But yours look fab and both the styled and unstyled versions are pretty cool if you ask me!

  4. Hi, I love hats but I don't feel as though I look good in them! Thank you for visiting and leaving your kind comment on my "Show and Tell Friday"... It's All In The Numbers! I had a great time using the flower pots to display my house numbers. I thought it was a fun idea and have also bought a few to do for my sister’s house. She'll be surprised and I hope she loves them! I also had fun with Knock, Knock, Whose There?
What Does Your Front Door's Color Say About You? I received a lot of fun replies to that question.

  5. LOVE all your hats and hat stands... my moma is known around town for her many hats. It started about 25 years ago, when she decided she would wear a hat to church every Sunday, special ones she designed. Another great post for my Prior Lives Party! Thanks! Lezlee
