first day of school = sad momma

Grace has been anxiously waiting for this day for weeks and she practically glowed when I picked her up from school today. It was a good day for her. But a sad day for me. Preschool was okay and so was kindergarten (she went to half-day kindergarten). First grade? My baby is getting bigger and I so see how gone it all is. :(

She found this dandelion clock when I took her first-day=of-school photo and had to blow it before we left to go to school. ;)

  1. ((Me)) ~ From the day our children are born it seems they are growing away from us. I'm glad your little one had a good day.

  3. Wonderful. Issac would be doing first grade this year if he went. I am so glad he is home with me. :)

  7. ((hugs, and much empathy)) My littlest had an orientation morning in preparation for his first year at school. We start in January, and he'll be visiting the classroom a couple more times this year. I am so not ready to have no children at home. After spending the past ten years entirely devoted to little children, I am at a complete loss.

Grace looks so beautiful. You have done a good job, Momma!

  8. It IS sad.

But comfort yourself knowing that when your children become adults, they are even more enjoyable to have around.

And, they often come to visit bringing cute little offspring that continually remind you of them.

  12. A sad day, yet pregnant with possibilities. When we see our children as "people we know" (instead of extensions of us), the doors of the future seem to open so much wider.
