rattled by the bridge

I am assuming most of you have heard about the I-35 bridge collapse in Minneapolis. We use that bridge frequently. Thankfully, my husband's commute is a few miles away (the road to it is completely torn up for widening but it still isn't that far). But, we do use the bridge every time we go to the airport. My husband crosses it for his monthly eye appointments. My parent's crossed it twice this weekend. I-35 goes straight from us down to within an hour of their place.

It is a horrible tragedy. And I am a bit depressed but thankful. Thankful that four of the lanes were closed so that when the bridge collapsed during rush hour there weren't as many people on it. Thankful that God's hand supported the school bus full of children and while a few sustained injuries none of those children were killed. Thankful for all the people who helped others. Thankful it didn't occur this weekend when my parent's crossed it or ten days ago when hubby had an eye appointment. I guess it is a small thing to find a different route to the airport later this month when my in-laws come.

  3. Yes, I have an aunt and uncle in MN and obviously this is a huge tragedy. I am so thankful about the many miracles but am still in a little shock about what happened up there.

Glad you and your family are okay.

It's an awful tragedy, I saw it this morning on the news. Too sad. I too thanked God that the bus of children was saved...how grateful must their parents be today!

Glad to hear that you and your family are OK.

    Hugs.

  6. I'm so glad that you are ok. It's scary when things like this hit so close to home. I hadn't even thought about the bridge being near you, yet you've been on my mind all day and I keep finding pics of your kids, your address torn from an envelope which I carefully put into my address book.....perhaps this is why you were so close to my heart today.

Much love to you, my friend.

  7. I saw the bridge on the news, yes, even here in Australia. It was tragic news, but I am relieved to hear that you weren't more impacted by this event. Take care, Emma

I don't do the news so all my news comes from my husband who filters it for me or blogs. I just found out about the bridge a little bit ago and didn't realize you all were so near it.

I can imagine how you must be feeling. Praying for peace.
