paper nativities, paper angels, a nutcracker, and a matroyshka

Years ago, when C was little, my Mom found this nativity project  book in a second-hand store. I finally made it up.

The scroll decoration that one of the girls made has a label that says "The Good News." It mysteriously appeared on our tree.

I will be showing you a matroyshka I bought before last Easter further down the page. I bought this Nutcracker at the same time.

The girls made these paper angels while they were waiting for me to locate our angel decorations. They designed these on their own.

I found this printable nativity at Catholic Icing. K did all the coloring, cutting, and stapling.

I found the nativity that C made at Scrapbook, Scrapbook

Above you see the matroyshka I bought last Easter. I wanted one that I could leave out from Christmas to Easter. As you can see, the matroyshka shows the nativity on the outside doll. The inner dolls show scenes from Jesus life - you see the Sermon on the Mount, the Lord's Supper, Good Friday, and the Ascension. The matroyshka will stay out through Easter and the advent spiral will come out as the expanded Lent spiral (I bought it from Ann Voskamp's son).  You can see my tin-can advent candles behind them.

  3. So many wonderful symbols in this post, and my favourite things. I have never seen a nesting doll with such images, lovely. Your paper cut crèches turned out beautiful.

  6. This just reminded me that I meant to buy the unpainted Matroyshka dolls for Alayna to paint!
    Oh, well.
As always, I LOVE to see the results of your daughter's creativity. They truly are amazing artists.
