Photo Hunt: rare

I rarely post in color. This is from 2003.

  1. But I'm so glad you did decide to post in color today! I guess I'm a sucker for color (maybe my lack of imagination??), but these are exceptionally beautiful. I just love them--I really do!

I hope you have a great weekend and aren't doing too much home improvements!

In a weird kind of way (!) this reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock's reason for filming Psycho in black and white: he thought that the shower scene would be so garish if shot in colour that it would lose its intensity.

Not that I'm saying these are garish - they are really beautiful. But having the occasional colour, and especially that colour being red, seems to act as an amazing counterpoint to the rest of your work. It makes us look again at both the colour and the black and white images.

I'm struck by how different the textures are between the two types of image. Not better or worse, just different.

  3. I like your black and white shots but the color in these is so vibrant- guess I'm a color fan, though I do do some shots in b/w too, just not very often. Enjoy the weekend!

  4. Mmmm ~ like the red! Intense!

  5. Very nice macros indeed. Reminds me a bit of Georgia O'Keeffe's art. She taught here.

    Keep shootin!

Wow. I was just going to say Georgia O'Keefe when I noticed another comment down the way with the same take. Essie and I were just perusing a book abou ther at the library on Friday.

Stunning. Makes me want to paint. :) Love the black and whites but am all for color if it is intense. None of that boring "normal" stuff. :)

  7. What exquisite details you captured! The photos are fascinating to look at.
