simple, quick, easy, geeky
The weekend we went to the dog show, my husband and Dad stopped at their favorite bookstore, Uncle Hugo's, which happens to be near Children's Hospital. Dad tried to sell back some books and many were taken but several were not. He left them with me.
I took the Mary Stewart book (which I have a copy of and have read) and the Piers Anthony book (which neither my husband I would probably read) and the nearly fifty year-old copy of The Island of Doctor Moreau (in poor condition) which I had picked up and read for my literary book club and made me some bookmarks.
Fun, simple, and nearly instant gratification. :)
P.S. I do not have a laminating machine. I simply make sure that when I make bookmarks they are narrow enough to sandwich between two layers of packing tape. If you burnish the packing tape well and trim carefully the results are quite durable.

Great gift, idea, I thought for certain they were made using one those professional laminators. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThink I've just found what to do with all those books I could not resell. Thanks! ☺
ReplyDeleteLovely! Oh, and I know this woman who makes AMAZING envelopes out of calendar pictures!
ReplyDeleteExcellent upcycling! I love the sections you chose from the book covers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea! Thanks for sharing. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteFrom one geek to another well done. I told Joe the other day I had always been a book nerd but I have completely crossed over to nerdom as I watch PBS, read most of the time, garden, and am weird about what we eat.
ReplyDeleteI meant to tell you that my blog today was the hardest to write and that your comment was, again, very insightful. It is the saddest for me too thus far.
ReplyDeleteAnother amazing idea!
ReplyDeleteI thought they were laminated too, they look great! What a super idea.
