Bread Box Storage

The great thing about participating in Stashbusting September with Robin is that it makes me wind up the wips/ufos too.

This bread box probably sat in my garage for a year (BTW breadboxes are usually very cheap at the thrift store, which is where I got this one and the other two I have). In the spring when I painted something else, I painted it black then it sat until this weekend.

Please disregard the lousy light and tone (the sheet music is creamy, not yellow) but today was dark and dreary and my good camera is gone so I am using my old one.

Sheet music, songbirds, and a bread box make for vitamin and thermometer storage in the kitchen. This looks worlds better than what was there before.

A bluebird in honor of the street we live on (Bluebird St).

A western meadow lark in honor of Kansas the state I grew up in and because there is something compelling about the inverted trill of their song.

A tufted titmouse because it is pretty and none of the other birds in book tickled may fancy except for birds of prey and herons which I thought didn't fit.

It also provides a boost for my tin can lamp.

  9. Adorable, that really turned out well! What a great breadbox, I like how it isn't just shaped like a big box, but it has some curve to it. Good work.

  11. Wonderful about the assisted homeschooling. I think you'll have so much fun - you are very creative! Enjoy the adventure.

PS I'd love to hire a tutor (can't afford a teacher!) to help out with some of the lessons. Maybe one day!

  23. Melissa, that is one of the prettiest makeovers I've ever seen for a breadbox! Of course, I am somewhat prejudice to birds and music. ;)

Thanks for linking to my party. I would love to have you join me for one, or all three, of my parties each week.
