I guess I am a wimp and a bit silly....

For those who are interested in a dental report, here it is.

The black I saw is from the metal at the base of my crown (nobody told me and it never occurred to me).

After doing a bunch of different little tests and checking things out, he says I must be clenching excessively (I've had problems with excessive clenching and grinding over the years - but this pain is much worse than anything I've experienced before - I am particularly surprised by the ear pain that I am experiencing). I've tried mouth guards and don't tolerate them well.

I will have to see if I can come up with some ways to prevent or hinder this very bad habit of mine.

I will definitely need to get this under control - an aching jaw, neck, and ear make for a very irritable Mommy.

  1. Well, thank goodness you didn't have to loose a tooth. But this is a situation, as your pain continues.
I sleep with a mouth guard every night and if I forget to wear it even for a short nap I really regret it. I clinch and grind to beat the band. You are no wimp! I definitely know the pain is excruciating our jaws are very powerful and of the utmost importance! The mouth guard has been a life saver for me.
Continued prayers as you look for a resolution.

  2. ((Melissa)) ~ Praying you find some relief. If the ear pain continues don't hesitate to pursue it with the doctor or dentist again. Sometimes they miss things.

Tell your mom to check out the details on the CPSIA; there was talk of making an exception for handmade knitted items made from all natural, un-dyed wools or cottons. If this is true (and I'd want to be really certain of that!), it might be an option for her.

  3. It is SO much easier to tolerate something once you know it isn't horribly dangerous (I know, I have so been there.) Glad you are all right.

  4. That is still so awful. Is it not TMJ?

Maybe if you're clenching due to stress you could look into some desterssing things.

  5. Bless your heart. I'm so relieved for you. I tend to clinch too, and just mindfully relax my jaw (like those exercises you do while you're in labor). That and Tension Tamer teeth seems to help.

Bet you're so thankful. Me too. :) God is so faithful, even in our fears.

  6. Well, that is a relief about not having to spend the money, but I hope you do find a product that helps with the clenching.

You poor thing, I hate tooth issues, I'd be grumpy too.

    Here's praying for relief.

  8. It is good news, but that does not take away from the fact you are in pain, and so so not a wimp. I sure hope you are feeling better soon.

  9. Mouth guard sounds like a good idea, at least it will save your teeth. On the bright side working all those muscles will keep your chin up and neck less wrinkly.
