hi

What has happened. My left knee became swollen and painful and I could not walk for several days. It started improving yesterday and today is only achy. But last night my right-hand became swollen and too painful to move and today my left-hand has joined the right. Typing right now is difficult.

I went to a doctor today and he said it might be rheumatoid arthritis and took some blood for testing and put me on Pretizone (sp).

It is painful to even wash my hands right now. I am trying to keep an open-mind until I know what the problem is.

  1. Oh, I hope that's not the diagnosis. If it is, please find a good rheumatologist so you see a doctor who specializes in it. My husband was diagnosed with this earlier this year and it made all the difference in the world going to a specialist.

  4. I agree with morning glory. And I know you live close to some really really good hospitals. I always try to go to a doctor who is board certified. I recommend you do the same. Also if your doctors can't seem to figure out the problem pack up the car and head to those good hospitals that are close to you.

  6. I will say a prayer for you. Just to add to the mix, it's not Lyme's disease is it?

  8. Melissa,
I am so very sorry to hear that you are having pain and swelling.. I agree with Morning glory... if they indeed come up with this as a diagnosis... go to a specialist... so they can get you on the correct treatment program...
    I am praying for you...

  9. Melissa ~ I woke up; it's the middle of the night. You're on my mind. I'm praying the Lord will lift this burden of ill health and depression from you. Wishing I could reach out and give you a hug. Take care, my friend.

  11. I wish you well, for quick results from the testing. And I hope it is just a quickly gone bout of this.

I had such a bout, back when my oldest was in college. So I was young at the time. I was almost totally 'frozen' with stiffness/pain, in areas. Happily, it ran its course and went away, and never returned.

Scary while it lasted though. Which was for a matter of weeks maybe... I really don't remember that well. But it did go away.

I didn't get any meds but I remember that my doc wanted to know if I'd been bitten. That was way before there was lots of knowledge of ticks. Now I know he was considering Lime Disease. Were you asked if you remember being bitten?

    Good thoughts going to you....
