living wholly

I think that 'living wholly' might be the same as balance. But I like it better. Balance implies dropping things and adding things until the scales even out. I want to live my life as wholly me and wholly God's - God made me a passionate person with a variety of interests - so it is up to me to use my gifts in a way that is a completion of who I am. I don't think I have the right to discard them. The things I drop should be things that aren't of me to begin with things added on from the outside that aren't part of what God made me. If so, living wholly would be about entering more fully into my relationship with Christ...it sounds simple...I doubt if it is.

Do you live wholly?

  2. I don't really know whether I do live wholly or not. There are parts of ourselves we don't develop I had to put things aside when I had children I very rarely 'create' things except in the evenings because of meddling hands and the demands for attention, the same for reading as much as I want. But there's a season for everything. I guess there are parts of ourselves that we repress too when we try to conform and when we try to please others.

I remember reading that the root of the word 'sin' means 'to miss the mark', thus sin is anything that prevents us from living in the life that God created us for, a life in service to him, of peace, joy and love. Too often other Christians try to prescribe to us what this life should be like and if we don't fit into the 'box' then we aren't being 'good' Christians. But I think that living a whole life is to forget all outside of us but to concentrate on what is inside. God promised all who love Jesus Christ His Holy Spirit, He should be our guide. He lives within us. I do also believe that we should be guided by our church leaders (assuming they are annointed by God to be leaders of course :))

sorry I've gone a little off the point there...personally speaking I don't live wholly but I want to live guided by His Holy Spirit only then would I be whole.

  4. Oh, I *love* what you've said here. I don't think I've hit the mark, but this is how I am trying to live my life.
