a hanging

A while back hubby decided that the black out curtains in K's room should be on the pull rods. He even hung the pull cord according to directions to make it 'safe.' I thought that it was inadvisable but sometimes the best way to avoid saying "I told you so." is not to comment in the first place.

Yesterday when I went into the room K was standing with the cord wrapped three times around her neck "Mom, tied." I just about had a coronary. Somehow, she actually broke the cord.

In the evening when hubby fixed it to make it safer, he mumbled about how our children wreck so many things. I pointed out that someday that insatiable curiosity and explorative tendencies would make the wonderful outside the box kind of thinkers.

  1. I've got some wonderful outside the box thinkers in my family.

It's worth the extra effort, but a challange to keep them alive!!

Ocassionally I would forget what a HUGE job it is just to keep them alive until they become adults.

I always took great comfort that it was GOD who had numbered their days, and not me.

  3. I had some catching up to do this morning. You've been busy. I enjoyed the poem and am so grateful you said what you did about not running counter to your being a Christian. The femininity thing is hard to wrap my mind around. I've always been told I was feminine but I don't really know what it means. When I catch a glimpse of myself walking in a mall or something, I always feel like I'm clomping along, not femininely at all. Sometimes in an effort to be feminine, women become a caricature of themselves, like transvestites. But take a quiet, loving woman and put her in overalls and watch true femininity at work.

Yikes! A hanging. My cat did that once but I don't think the boys ever did. Your husband sounds a bit like my Tim. lol He doesn't understand why kids have to tear things up. Well, hon, cause they're kids and if we couldn't teach them not to do stuff like that..what are we here for? :)

Hope you're doing ok. I enjoy your writing style and your theological standpoint and ability to express it well.

  4. My goodness, I'm glad nothing terrible happened! I've got a few "outside the box" thinkers here too. It sure can be a challenge at times :) Now that they're getting older though, it's getting to be a lot of fun.

  6. Thanks to everyone...somehow of all her escapades so far this one most scared me because the view of death seemed much more real than in some other occasions...

Judy you are so right - I need to keep that in the forefront of my mind at all times!!
