the bird's new place in life

The bird I embroidered has become the cover of a box (go figure - I never decorate boxes - sheees!!). On Sunday, I discovered that one of my dearest friends was going to turn seventy today, so I decided that I was going to give her my embroidered piece - I like giving boxes because the recipient can do so much with them.

So, here it is...

Snowman No. 22

Snowmen in the summer? Yes, indeed!! You may ask why. The reason is simple, I am attempting to overwhelm my MIL with button-nosed snowmen for her birthday in September. As a personal goal, I've decided to try and create a hundred different types of snowmen. These tin can sweeties are number 22.

pants for lounging in and flowers from walks

I made myself some lounge pants from an old flat sheet. They are your basic drawstring pants and since I don't particularly care for photos of myself and hate to ask hubs to take them anyhow all you are going to get to see is a detail shot of the hem. Rather than hem them, I cut them out so the bottom of the leg came out as the decorative edge of the sheet.

The nice thing about old sheets is that they are completely worn in and very soft. They are also a nice light weight.

The girls and I try to take a walk every morning. We often pick flowers from along the trail.

Common lawn clover in a bottle that was once a salt or pepper shaker.

flowers (june blossoms in my yard) and one bird (a craft!!)

Like so many, we are having an unusually cold, wet summer. I honestly don't mind, the rain, the clouds, or the cold that much. However, I do mind the headaches that the low pressure systems give me. Yesterday, I had a headache so I watched television and finished this embroidered piece that I started at Christmas.

I am pretty happy with it, but I am not sure what to do with it now. I thought about using it to cover a pillow to throw on the couch but my husband is underwhelmed by it. What would you do with it? (It is roughly 8 inches square.)

I will be sharing at:

...in our backyard. We found this guy in our backyard on a cool day last week. He wasn't warmed up so he was very sluggish.

KTIS Family Fun Fest

After dropping C and my Mom off at Grandparent's Camp, I headed home with K. When we were south of the cities, K asked to listen to the local Christian radio station. When we were listening, we heard that Peter Furler would be at a bookstore on the west side of the cities. I called hubs and after a few calls back and forth, we decided that I would meet him at the bookstore. We met around 7:30 p.m. we were the last people that Peter 'officially' met with as they were starting to close up the signing/picture booth just as we got there...but K got her photo taken with Peter and he signed a poster for her.

The next day, we attended the KTIS Family Fun Fest, it was strange having only one child!! K had a good time though.

We watched Go Fish while we were at the Festival we also watched Peter Furler's first concert in his tour promoting his new album "On Fire." K had a blast (and so did her Dad and I). The music was great and of course there were plenty of opportunities for street style photography.
